Classic Printer setup

Whatever is chosen here is set for this workstation and user.

You can also set Printers per workstation in File Maintenance – Staff Configuration Utility.

  1. Choose the selected printer for prescription output. If you are a dispensing practice or wanting to print drug labels, you need to select the printer used with label stationery. Note that the printers are recorded by workstation.
  2. Select Options from the Vision Front menu, then SetUp.
  3. Click on the Printers tab.
  4. Under Prescription - Selected printer: click to highlight the printer you use to print prescriptions. The selection depends on the setup made by the engineer initially.
  5. Select the Port - a parallel printer is usually in LTP1, and a serial printer in LTP2 - if you are not sure, contact the Help Line.
  6. Then click on Select.
  7. Repeat for Drug Label - Selected printer: if you are printing dispensing labels within the practice.
  8. Click on OK.

If you are a Scottish practice, there is a requirement to print prescriptions in a Courier 11 font, which can be read by the scanners at the pricing bureau.

  1. Right click anywhere on the Printers screen.
  2. Select Use Courier 11 for all scripts.
  3. OK.
  4. Check the setup of your Repeat Reorder Form in Consultation Manager - Consultation - Options - Repeat Reorder Form Setup. The change in font may affect the word wrap / carriage returns on the messages.
